Counselling
IES Student Services offers Personal and Career Counselling to all IES students.
Discussions held between IES Student Counsellors and IES Students are confidential and information from counselling sessions is not disclosed to any third parties, unless a student specifically requests this.
However, there can be exceptions to this in extreme cases – such as when a student is seen to be a danger to themselves or to others; or when we are required to give out information by law. Even in those rare cases, students are informed whenever possible and no more information than necessary is released.
Career counselling
Career Counselling can help with:
• Choosing a program or career
• Identifying potential employment options
• Understanding the world-of-work
• Preparation for employment
Career Counselling is a process concerned with assisting students in making informed and appropriate decisions in regard to their future study plans. Ultimately, IES Career Counsellors help students choose study programs that will lead them into the career of their choice.
Personal Counselling
IES Student Counsellors offer a personal counselling service to IES students who need to talk through any personal issues or problems they may be facing. Personal counselling is conducted in confidence and students should feel comfortable and secure in divulging any problems of concern to them.
IES employs both a male and a female Student Counsellor, so students can discuss personal matters with the counsellor of their choice.
