Joining as an AHN host
Whether you're an experienced Homestay Host or someone who's new to Homestay in Australia, you can easily join the Australian Homestay Network and our AHN Accommodation staff will supervise your application, and match you with a suitable student.
To be an AHN host there are four stages for you to complete. Please go to www.homestaynetwork.org and click on Join as a Host. The website will walk you through the application process. If you have any questions throughout the process, please contact our office on 08 9240 2252.
Stage 1
The below headings represent information that is required to become a homestay host. These headings will appear when you click your profile on the left hand side of your homepage.

Stage 2
Home assessment level. The training module for assessment is on your home page when you log in on the left hand side of your screen. This assessment is in multiple choice format. The assessment will time out after 30 minutes. Please complete the assessment in one sitting.
Stage 3
Home interview. This can take some time as we have many areas to cover, when we are in your area you will be called to arrange a visit to your home.
Stage 4
Once you have received your Working with Children and Police Clearance - and completed the three steps above - you are now ready for students!
All hosts and persons over 18 who live in the home are required to hold a current Working With Children Check.

AHN will match Students to hosts depending on the availably of students & host/student requirements. We aim to provide students with a homestay experience where they are not required to travel more than 1 hour minutes in total to their education provider. Public transport needs to be within 10 minutes walking distance from hosts home and at a frequency that allows the student independence and mobility.
