Guardianship

Education Providers require that all students who are under the age of 18 and live in an approved Homestay.

For the student to receive their Certificate of Enrolment (COE), the Education Provider must sign off on their approved accommodation and Guardianship/Caregiver.

The guardianship role is usually taken on by your host but some school allocate their own guardian seperate from the host.

Parents of Under 18 students need to complete the Guardianship/Caregiver form before a student’s visa will be issued by the Department of Immigration.

Guardianship/Caregiver arrangements for Under 18 students are for the duration of the student’s confirmation of enrolment (COE).

Specific rules are in place for the protection of under 18 students, please see attached the Guardian/Carer form that host's must sign when taking an under 18 student.
