Temporary Homestay for international students
The University of Sydney has teamed up with the Australian Homestay Network (AHN) to offer temporary and introductory welcoming accomodation to newly-arrived international students. Ideally, hosts will be University alumni, but they may also be friends of alumni or other AHN specially selected and trained hosts.Homestay is offered for the first two, three or four weeks following your arrival in Sydney, or even longer, if you and your homestay host wish.
Homestay is a wonderful introduction to accommodation and living in Australia and your homestay hosts will help you to settle in to life in Sydney, and advise you of general safety, accommodation and welfare information. All AHN homestay families undergo extensive training, police checks (as required), are personally interviewed and their homes professionally inspected to give you the highest quality homestay experience. Other benefits include insurance to protect you and your belongings while in homestay, and a professional 24/7 helpline, including interpreter services, should you ever need assistance.

Student Applications
AHN aims to find you the best available Homestay based on your preferences. Our staff are experts in homestay placements and we have a high success rate in first time placements.Your placement fee and initial Homestay fees will need to be paid in advance. How to Begin
To begin the homestay application process, please click the 'Join as a Student' button located below. You will then be taken through the application form and, once completed, a Welcome Email will be sent to your email address. There will be a link in this email you will need to click to activate your account. Once your account is activated, your application will be assigned to a relevant Supervisor to begin the placement procedure. If you would like a University of Sydney alumnus or friend as your homestay host, please make sure you mention this in your special requests on the application form.
